Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and then moved to Aspen. A few traveled to Colorado following the Denver's cult tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver, the Hall of Fames' first inductee, was honored with the award in the year 2011. He is now the symbol of Colorado for people worldwide. In my journeys, you encounter someone on the other side of the world or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm originally from Colorado and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk groups was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune to Johnny Cash's tune in mind, but Denver realized from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it could be a huge hit. Danoff recorded the song just a few days following playing on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
